Our story

The Shoebox Theatre is a multi-purpose performance and arts space based in the heart of Swindon's Railway Village. As well as hosting a programme of contemporary theatre and new work, it also provides access to actor and performance training through the Actors' Institute.

The running of the theatre is managed by Wrong Shoes Theatre Company with the aim of providing an affordable space to develop new work and support emerging artists - a place where creativity is nurtured and risk-taking thrives!

"A brilliant little theatre with such a dedicated team behind it. Creating a lot of refreshing material and making a real difference to Swindon's theatre scene."

Learn and train

The Shoebox Theatre offers learning opportunities for ages 4+, including training for complete beginners aged 18+.

Our professional Actor training programme is delivered by the Actors' Institute and offers a foundation course in acting, masterclasses, evening classes and short courses.

Who we work with

As well as an experienced resident Artistic Director, the Shoebox Theatre has an excellent team of associate artists, who deliver our education programme.

In addition, Billie Piper is an active patron of the Shoebox Theatre and is involved in selective projects throughout the year.
